It’s officially spring! While we wait for the Ohio weather to play catch up, we can see the daffodils blooming and buds on the trees. Spring is always an exciting time at HSCB because good weather equals more foundations being excavated. Another bit of exciting news is that we just recently completed another home in Wadsworth and held our first open house in quite some time! We are looking forward to announcing our first full public open house soon.

This 4,000+ square foot new build is in our Woodhaven Preserve subdivision in Wadsworth. This home was built for an interior designer and is packed full of great touches that they added with custom cabinets throughout, vaulted Great room ceiling with beams, hidden pantry, and so much more. The first floor features a large master suite with his and hers walk-in closets, a pocket office, large great room, gourmet kitchen, dining room and a covered porch. The second floor has 2 additional bedrooms, 2 baths and a study. In the walk out basement, there is an additional bedroom and full bath, rec room and a fun use for some unfinished area. Pro Builder unveiled its annual “40 Under 40” list of rising stars in the home building industry.  Scott Strayer, President of Helen Scott Custom Builders, is among the honorees profiled in its March/April 2021 issue. This year’s class of 19 women and 21 men were selected from hundreds of nominations submitted from all regions of the United States. Of course, winners are honored for accomplishments achieved before the age of 40.

One trait this year’s honorees demonstrated was the ability to pivot during the pandemic. Their accomplishments included generating record sales volume using a variety of tactics.  Many “firsts” were also achieved by this group of the industry’s next generation of leaders, featuring women who became their company’s first CEO; first vice president of purchasing; or senior manager for a national builder. In addition, the honorees are very active in giving back to their communities.

Executive Editor, Denise Dersin, said, “Despite all of the challenges posed by 2020’s pandemic, our 2021 class rose to the occasion, developing new processes and procedures and helping to ensure their companies continued to be dynamic and successful”.  Further, she says, “Their achievements, both at work and in their communities, are remarkable and inspiring.”

Welcome back! It’s been a great start to the year at Helen Scott Custom Builders.
